Dr. Serhat Gumrukcu is an accomplished scientific researcher and infectious diseases expert. His work in HIV, large cell cancer tumors, and SARS-CoV-2 have been revered by his peers and the greater scientific community. In addition to being the Executive Director at Seraph Research Institute, Dr. Gumrukcu is also the co-founder of Enochian BioSciences – a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to identifying, developing, manufacturing, and commercializing gene-modified cell therapy. While Enochian BioSciences has acquired the rights to some of Dr. Gumrukcu’s independent research and groundbreaking scientific discoveries, Dr. Gumrukcu does not retain a formal, day-to-day role within the company.
In 2017, Dr. Gumrukcu was involved in a legal dispute regarding a commercial business matter, which was dismissed by The Superior Court of California County of Los Angeles in September 2020. In a self-interested effort, there have been attempts by some parties to exploit this case in order to discredit Dr. Gumrukcu. Since the individuals with self-interests cannot attack the scientific validity of Dr. Gumrukcu’s research and developments, they are attempting to discredit him by attacking his professional credibility.
Dr. Gumrukcu commenced his medical training at Dokuz Eylul University (2000-2004) in Izmir, Turkey, and then completed and received his medical degree (MD) at I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy/First Moscow State Medical University. Dr. Gumrukcu then completed two years of residency in Genetics at the same institution, receiving the Russian equivalent of a Ph.D. (formally recognized as such by the Turkish health and education ministries) for his residency training in the specialty of genetics. He then returned to Turkey and, while continuing his medical research, also completed a separate Ph.D. in Psychology at Ankara University in 2010. He is licensed to practice in multiple jurisdictions.
